Discovery.
It is critical to accurately align your web strategy with your business' internal requirements, audience needs and competitive drivers. During Discovery, it is imperative to meet with key project stakeholders to understand their needs. Clarify and refine your project goals and objectives, identify your target audience, and gather technical requirements.
The process begins with the distribution and collection of surveys, followed by a series of interviews. Data collected from these surveys and interviews will aid in gaining valuable insight into your industry, as well as the site's audience, requirements, and goals.
Remember- the more data you collect, the more prepared you are. Review your existing off and online collateral. Brochures, whitepapers, case studies, industry analysis, and business plans are all useful documents for understanding your business. Review your existing web site, web logs and site usage. In addition, analyze your top competitors and key trends in your industry. The goal is to become an "expert customer" in your industry.
