The Ten Spot - Episode 2

In episode 2 of the Ten Spot, we discuss:

Behavior Based Search

Panelist: Jon Webb At the 2009 Pubcon conference in Las Vegas Bruce Clay made a statement that “Ranking is dead”, in his panel discussion about Behavioral Based Search “Top Shelf Organic SEO”. Bruce believes that within the first six months of 2009 we should start to see Google search results that are based off of personal search history. He also says that SEO companies must start looking at analytics, measuring traffic, bounce rates and actions as opposed to past SERP ranking. Measuring traffic and overall conversion goals should be the focus of SEO’ers in the future. IE8 BETA 2 SHOWS MICROSOFT IS SERIOUS ABOUT PLAYING CATCH-UP

Panelist: Brent Bice With the release of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 beta 2 in June and the hint at launching IE 8 within the first three months of 2009, LevelTen is making preparations. With a raft of new features (new to Microsoft anyway) and user interface improvements, the new IE shows promise that at least Microsoft cares about creating a good web browser. The addition of Suggestions and Accelerators and improvements to Tabs and Standards compliance seem to be the biggest highlights of the new browser. Does this mean no more coding for IE 6? Can we expect one set of CSS and HTML code to work across all major browsers? We sure hope so! Peter Bright’s post offers good insight into IE8 Beta 2 features and concludes by saying, “A lot of its features have been copied, sure. But they're good features… After using beta 2, I am now confident that Microsoft actually cares about creating a good web browser, and I haven't felt that way since the days of the browser war.” Read Peter’s article to learn more about Microsoft’s IE8 Beta 2 Plus discussion on ways in which a company can use Google's GMAP technology to improve the functionality of their website.
