Web site size

Web site size is generally described in number of total site pages. The appropriate size of a site depends on the organization, the message that needs to be communicated and the amount of information that is to be provided.

Web Site Size Gauge

  • X-Small: 1-8 pages
  • Small: 9-20 pages
  • Medium: 21-50 pages
  • Large: 51-100 pages
  • X-Large: 101-250 pages
  • XX-Large: 251+ pages

Size Tips

  • To determine the number of pages your site needs, take the total number of words in your main text (count articles and longer sections separately) and divide by 100.
  • For very large sites it is often useful to organize information into subsites to aid users in finding what they need.
