Want to be a Creative Genius?

Want to be a Creative Genius?

If you are stumped for ideas and wondering how to revive that creative energy you once felt…look no further. I have compiled a list of ways to never run out of ways to be original and inspired!

  • 1. OBSERVE: Look up, look down, look all around. Take notice of your surroundings, and more specifically, consciously notice what your eye is most drawn to whether it is a bright color, nature, or even a puppy.
  • 2. EXPLORE: Always be on the lookout for inspiration. Go to the movies, Flip through your favorite magazines, read a book, visit an art museum, or go to the park. Get out and discover what you’ve been missing! Exercise can be a great way to clear your mind as well; even if you just go for a walk around the block.
  • 3. RECORD: Keep track of your ideas (they can be fleeting little suckers). I never leave the house without a moleskin notebook and an ultra fine point pen. In fact, most of my best ideas come in my dreams, so I keep a dream journal by my bed and write them down when I wake up!
  • 4. CHANGE: I refuse to get stuck in the same routine. Whether you merely change the route you take to work, it is important to try new things every day. Other ways to change it up include: take a bath instead of a shower, call a friend you haven’t heard from in a while, listen to a new type of music and millions more. Just for fun, you could blindly click through a site for five seconds, then open your eyes and see where you end up!
  • 5. SHARE: Tell your friends what you are up to at work, and have them do the same. Many of my friends work in the fashion design industry, and you have no idea how much their ideas can influence me and vice versa.

So, observe your surroundings, explore new places, record your ideas, change your routine, and share your thoughts! Finally, remember to think positively; if you think you are full of creative ideas you will be!
