LevelTen Interactive Climbs Ranks of Prestigious Blog List

DALLAS – LevelTen Interactive, a Dallas based Interactive Agency, has added another accomplishment to their web portfolio. LevelTen’s blog skyrocketed to its highest ever ranking in Advertising Age’s Power 150 List, joining some of the most influential blogs in the world. The ascension to No. 107 in the prestigious ranking list for marketing blogs is tied to LevelTen’s consistent practice of the online marketing philosophies they have developed. It also points to the effectiveness of Drupal technology for web marketing ventures. “This accomplishment just puts the proof in our pudding,” LevelTen’s Director of Technology Tom McCracken said. “When companies follow genuine best practices for online success, results like this will pour in.” The Power 150 is a ranking of the top English-language marketing blogs in the world, based on a system of criteria developed by marketing executive Todd Andrlik. When organizations with appropriate blog content register with AdAge, a red and orange shield-like badge is placed on the blog page to monitor progress. The Power 150’s ranking algorithm is based on a combination of:
  • Andrlik’s personal ranking, based on his subjective feelings about the blog’s content, relevance, creativity, visual appearance and inclusion of multimedia. Blogs are awarded points on a scale (1 to 15).
  • Postrank, which is a service that measures the active engagement of a blog post on Digg, Twitter, Facebook, del.icio.us, Google, RSS and others. It tracks page views, comments and shares to formulate a score for effectiveness on a post-by-post basis (1 to 30).
  • Yahoo InLinks, where Yahoo uses its Site Explorer to tabulate the number of links to a particular blog (1 to 30).
  • Alexa Points, which incorporates page views and reach (the percentage of all web users who have visited that particular site). The Power 150 takes the ranking and assigns it a proportional score (1 to 25).
  • Collective Intellect, a social media analytics company that evaluates consumer opinions, measures buzz and tracks customer sentiments. Collective Intellect uses link analysis to determine the author’s authority on a topic and then assigns a ranking for the quality of the post (0 to 30).
LevelTen has consistently updated its blog content since 2005, when McCracken launched a hands-on blogging experiment to learn more about the concept. “Much of what we know (about the web), we learn by doing,” McCracken wrote at the time. “And it is time for us to understand blogs.” The LevelTen blog has produced nearly 800 posts of original content including musings, tips, videos, rants, how-to guides, reviews and much more.
