Pets are a huge part of our lives, research has shown that having pets in the workplace reduces stress and increases the feeling of well-being. It seems that more and more companies are allowing dogs in the office and LevelTen Interactive happens to be one of them. I feel very fortunate that I am able to bring my little fuzzy friend into the workplace. Her separation anxiety makes it really difficult to leave her at home. Each day I bring Jersie to the office she yelps excitedly because she knows that she is going to get lots of love and attention. I love that she can hang out with me at the office, jumping and yelping for joy anytime one of her favorite visitors pops by. Anytime myself or colleagues need a bit of relaxation we can always count on Jersie to make us smile, alleviating stress and providing renewed inspiration. Dog friendly offices are not only beneficial for the dog but more importantly they are good for business. Many companies find that animal-friendly policies celebrate the great relationship that owners have with their pets, which can be great for business. Research has also shown that it boosts the office morale and employees are more likely to work later. It also helps to retain great employees, not to toot my own horn (collar pop). According to a recent survey by the American Pet Products Manufactures Association, one in five U.S. companies allows dogs at work. This survey also reveals that a large percentage of Americans believe having pets in the workplace increases creativity and helps better relationships among colleagues. If the company you work for is as great as mine and your dog is fairly well behaved, you may want to fetch your boss the facts he/she just might catch. Side note: I would like to thank our Business Development Intern Macy for schooling me on the phrase "collar pop". For those of you who are not familiar here is the Urban Dictionary definition "to roll up your collar to look preppy or badass"
