Is Google Always Right?
You’ve done it a million times. Gone to Google Search in a hurry for a quick query to find info on a given topic. In you're haste you type in the wrong spelling for the term you're searching, knowing that you have the safety of just choosing Google’s suggestion for what you really meant to type.
The tool is called Google’s Suggestion tool engineered by Google developer Noam Shazeer. This suggestion tool is based off of other user searches and the most common usage of those words in their queries. Great tool, often times correct but I do see some potential issues. Many times individuals (me) view the suggestion tool as a spell checker where most of the time you will receive the right spelling but beware, sometimes you won’t.
For example, if you were searching for a grille guard to go on your truck, you would put in the query, “Truck Grille Guard”. The suggestion that comes back is, “Did you mean: truck grill guard?” Which 9 times out of 10 I would click that link because generally Google knows better than I but, that’s the correct wording, correct spelling, what gives?
Most likely the majority of individuals searching for “truck grille guards” type the wrong spelling for the query. That’s why Google is suggesting the wrong spelling and query results.
Again, a fantastic tool but beware, even Google is not infallible.
