25 Google Chrome Extensions for the Internet Marketing Professional

google chrome extensions for Internet marketing Now that the Google Chrome browser is supporting extensions for the Mac version, I've finally been able to explore the Extensions Channel. While I haven't spent too much time with the browser, I'm finding that I like Chrome's speed and slick extensions better then the offerings from Firefox. Through my research, I've identified 25 extensions that should be in every Internet marketers toolkit for SEO, Social Media, and Web Development. Note: there is some overlap with a few of the extensions, so try them out for yourself and see which ones you like best.

  • Lorem Ipsum Generator: The Lorem Ipsum Generator makes it easy to generate some quick dummy text for your web projects. No more Googling for a generator to use.
  • Meta SEO Inspector: Easily view a web site's meta data to diagnose SEO problems and opportunities. Includes Semantic data like XFN tags and microformats.
  • Google Wave Notifier: Google Wave is an extremely useful tool for group collaboration and brainstorming. Of course, I didn't realize this until I finally downloaded a notifier application. Google Wave Notifier will show you how many unread items are in your Wave inbox.
  • bit.ly: Use the Bit.ly extension to shorten and track URLs using the bit.ly service through your web browser.
  • GTasks: Using Google's Tasks is a major part of my strategy for staying on task and getting things done during the day. Use this extension to easily access your list from within your Chrome browser.
  • Shareaholic for Google Chrome: Easily share any website to all your favorite social networks. Very useful for content promotion though social channels.
  • Better Gmail: Tweaks for Google's Gmail interface, including hiding ads and other options. I'm a frequent user of Gmail, so anything that improves the interface is a win in my book.
  • Chrome SEO: Explore a whole host of SEO data including indexed pages, backlinks, traffic, domain details, and more. Very robust extension for important SEO data.
  • Domain Details: View details for any given domain, including IP address, software, headers, and WhoIs reports.
  • Evernote Web Clipper: Save websites to your Evernote notebooks. Comes in handy for your digital collections.
  • Firebug Lite: The popular plugin for SEOs and developers alike makes its way to Chrome. This is an essential tool for your Internet marketing toolbox.
  • Google Apps Shortcuts: Access all of the popular Google Apps tools all in one place. As an Internet marketer, using Google Apps have made my life much simpler.
  • PageRank: View Google PageRank on Chrome's toolbar.
  • SeoQuake: View a whole slew of SEO data both with the plugin, and within SERP results. Data includes, Google PageRank, Yahoo links, Alexa Rank, Webarchive age, and more.
  • Speed Tracer (by google): View and diagnose site performance issues. This variable is becoming more important in search engine ranking factors.
  • View Selection Source: Much like Firebug, this plugin allows you to view the source code behind different website sections.
  • Digg for Chrome: Use this plugin to discover, submit and digg your favorite content on Digg.com.
  • Pendule: Devloper tools for Chrome, similar to Firebug Lite, allows you to view source code material, and experiment with new configurations from within your browser.
  • Search Box: Allows you to search all the major search engines with a single extension.
  • Twitter Reactions: View Twitter reactions for any given webpage. Useful if you want to try to gauge sentiment for an article or company on Twitter.
  • SEO Status Pagerank/Alexa Toolbar: Checks Google PageRank & Alexa rank for every page.
  • SEO Playground: View a variety of Internet marketing information for any page, including ability to submit to social networks, view domain info, backlinks, and on-page SEO data.
  • WhoIs+: View the WhoIs and DNS information for any given website.
  • My Alerts: Subscribe to keyword based updates from Twitter, Google and Backtweets. Useful for the social media professional.
  • Webpage Screenshot: Easy way to save screenshots from within your browser.
