My Ada Lovelace Day Post
Today is Ada Lovelace Day and my blog subject is our own Jennifer Conley.
Compared to other FOSS technologies, the Drupal community has a gigantic female presence. It's a mere 10% according to DrupalChix but that's nearly an entire order of magnitude better than the open source community as a whole. Even though it's only 10%, there is still a strong female presence.
Drupal has some female rockstars. The maintainer of Drupal 7 is a woman. There are great Drupal companies that are women owned.
But this post is about LevelTen's own budding Drupal rockstar. Jennifer started out at LevelTen as an office manager long before I joined the company. When I joined, LevelTen had just begun transitioning to Drupal after launching a single Drupal site. Everyone in the company, including non-technical staff, started learning Drupal. Jennifer was also in the process of transitioning from office manager to project coordinator. In the last 6 months, she acquired so much knowledge and experience about Drupal and Web site development that she can kick your developer's ass. And her career isn't even in Web site development. It's in project management, where she has been instrumental in bringing us up to an agile development process. And that career isn't even a year old.
Please take part in Ada Lovelace Day. Pick your tech heroine and then publish your blog post today, 24th March 2009.
