7 Drupal Modules for Easy Event Management

One of the particular strengths of Drupal is the ability to manage events. From sign-ups, to listings and ticket sales, there are options for everything. Here are the 7 best Drupal modules for events. (Note - for this post, I'm only considering modules that have a stable release for 6.x - those in development were not considered).

Top Dogs

Without question, the powerhouses of event management with Drupal are the Calendar and Date modules. With their powers combined, they form an unstoppable force of monstrous proportions. Calendar and Date have the ability to tie into CCK and Views, making them some of the most flexible event management modules Drupal has to offer. As a personal plug, LevelTen's iSite Essentials Drupal Distribution includes both of these modules (along with about 60 others).

Exploring the Options

While there are several alternatives to Date and Calendar in Drupal 6.x, they aren't great. But if you're desperate for more options, check out RSVP, Signup and if you're an Organic Groups user, OG Calendar. Probably the strongest alternative to Date & Calendar, Event, is still in development.

Dolla' Dolla' Bills, Yo.

If your aim is to sell tickets to your next event, you'll want to give some heavy consideration to Drupal's best e-commerce solution, Ubercart. With Ubercart, you can sell tickets to your events, providing a nice source of Benjamins (we hope). As an alternative to Ubercart, you can also investigate CiviCRM, a full-featured suite of applications geared towards non-profits.
