Sticky Content

Ok...so what do we mean when we say "Content is King"? Well, let's start with the obvious. Most visitors to your website are looking for something and usually that something is information...data...content. So if you fill your site with information that your visitors, your customers and your potential customers are interested in, you have a much better chance of keeping their attention and attaining the conversion goals for your site. You must take the time to learn what your potential customers are interested in, what they are looking for and how you can give it to them, quickly and easily. It is then and only then that you have a chance to get them to do what you want them to do. Did you include usability testing in your website development budget? If you didn't you need to take a moment to read this list from Jakob Nielson, self proclaimed usability god. Sorry for the usability side track, let's get back to content. If you know who your target market is, you can develop content that will be sticky, content that will keep them engaged. This is the most important thing you can do...take the time to understand your target market and what they are looking for. Then create content to fit that need. Next time we will talk more about content and also about keywords and phrases. kv
