DrupalCon SF Preview
Everyone at LevelTen is extremely excited about attending DrupalCon San Francisco. Last year only two members of the team were able to attend DrupalCon in Washington, DC, but this year we’re sending out a pretty diverse group. Two of us have previously lived in the Bay Area (Brent in Oakland and myself in San Francisco), while others have never had the pleasure to step foot in California. It will be a great experience for all of us.
On the business end of the trip, I have mapped out all of the sessions I am interested in attending. I am still doubled up on a few timeslots, but I’m getting very close to narrowing it down. Some of the sessions I’m most looking forward to include:
PHP for Designers by Emma Jane Hogbin. I’ve read her book and I’m looking forward to getting a better understanding of tpl.php files.
Views Examples: Using Arguments and Relationships by Michelle Lauer. Unfortunately, this session happens at the same time as PHP for Designers. Not sure what to do here.
CSS3: The Future is Now by Jen Simmons. Gotta love rounded corners, gradients, and box shadows.
Elevating 960gs in Drupal with the Omega theme by Jake Strawn. I’ve played around a bit with 960 and I like it so far, but it seems like I have much more to learn.
Views Demystified by Doug Vann. I’ve come a long way with Views, but there is so much more to be known.
jQuery, Views, and View Themeing by Jonathan Rowny. Themeing Views has always been a nice challenge. This will be a good one.
Web Typography: Take your Designs from Good to Great by Samantha Warren. I’ve always wanted to know more about web typography, so here’s a great opportunity.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) for Drupal by Ben Finklea . Another speaker who has a book published that I’ve actually read. Looking forward to seeing him in person.
On the pleasure side of the trip, I’m excited to go visit all of my old hangouts and see how they’re doing. Is Corona Heights still the second most windy place on earth? Does the Stinking Rose still smell great? Did they ever finish all of that construction at Union Square? Does the Tonga Room still have indoor thunder and lightning? Does my old roommate Dave still make pizzas at Uncle Vito’s? These are all important questions I plan to find answers to.
