Local Internet Yellow Page Listings

Local Internet Yellow Page Listings

Over the next group of posts I will talk about different subjects that are important for any small business to think about and put action plans in place for. All in regards to improving your opportunity to be found online by potential customers. The first step for a small business owner is to determine if the business is listed in all the online yellow page sites and the Local Directories on Google, Yahoo and MSN. These listings are different than the search results you get when you do a traditional search on Google, etc. These are phone book listings on steroids...business name, contact information, description of services, hours, payment types accepted, and a map showing the location. And you do not have to have a website to be in these listings. Take the time to get your company listed in the local directories of all the major search engines. Many of the smaller search directories get their listings from data providers such as Acxiom and InfoUSA. Make sure your listing is updated in these providers databases. All of the above listings will have to be completed by the business and not a third party search engine marketing firm, advertising or web development firm. Many of them will use regular mail to confirm the physical address of the business. This is the first step...Do This Now! kv
