How To "Stumble Upon" New, Cool Websites

In my ongoing research of how to better market websites in the Web 2.0 era, I have found a plethora of new, emerging social networking sites. That's right, a plethora. While all try to stand out amongst the crowd, one has especially tweaked my interest and prompted me to share my new find with everyone. It's called, drumroll please, Stumble Upon.

Stumble Upon

How to Stumble

With Stumble Upon, you download a browser add-on which installs the "Stumble!" button in your toolbar. When you click this button, you are whisked away to a random website based on one of the many interests you can select. Such as: technology, humor, travel, sports or art.

The pages you "stumble upon" are recommended by one of the 1,284,477 people with similar interests. Once you have arrived at the cool, new website, give the site a "thumbs up" to recommend it to users who share your interests. If you don’t like the site push the "thumbs down" button and you will never stumble upon the page again. The sites you like are saved to your profile and you can always refer back to them.

My Stumbles

I found these really cool and very helpful, websites with Stumble Upon:

HTML Playground

PopURLS

True Facts

Call the Future

Pictures from the Sky

Web Design from Scratch

Common Errors in English Usage

Staying true to social networking standards, you can link up with other friends and see who is in your network. In addition, any member can add/recommend a site to the Stumble Upon network. A great way to promote your own blog or any unique or useful website you know about.

So the next time you feel like learning something new, just Stumble!
