Time for Startup Weekend!

LevelTen is pleased to sponsor an entrepreneur in the upcoming Startup Weekend in Denton. Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of entrepreneurs learning the basics of founding startups and launching ventures. Startup Weekends have happened in over 200 cities around the world. We're happy that LevelTen's very own Kyle Taylor is organizing the event.

During Startup Weekend people pitch ideas, teams form around the most popular ideas, and then the next 54 hours are spent creating business models, coding, designing, and doing market validation. Finally, the teams pitch their projects to local entrepreneurial leaders and get critical feedback.

Teams are judged based on the quality of their business model, customer validation, and execution. Presentations vary but generally include a combination of:

  • Wireframes or fully developed website;
  • Mobile Apps (from mock-ups to skeletons to fully functional)
  • Slide decks (Powerpoint, Keynote, Prezi, etc.)
  • Videos (i.e. product demonstrations, etc.)Live product demos
  • Skits

"I love being involved in Startup Weekend," says Kyle, Startup Weekend organizer. "Once you start, you really get the itch to continue to go back. It's fun, exciting, and different every time. It really shows how members of the local community can come together from different areas of expertise, create something that is new and innovative, while contributing back to the local economy. Being able to organize a Startup Weekend event to provide the resources and prizes to make these amazing things happen, it's a great feeling."

If you've got the next great idea or if you just want to see how startups get started, register for Denton Startup Weekend!
