Super 8 Motel Is My New Live Chat Buddy
I recently reserved a motel room on Super 8's website. Upon landing on the confirmation page, a Live Chat box popped up telling me I could save $20 on my purchase and to say "Hi" if I wanted the details. I was intrigued, simply because I was curious what would happen next. I said "Hi" and "Jessica" bumped up the deal to $30 savings on my purchase if I would receive information about Super 8's Trip Rewards program. She told me I could cancel within 30 days and still receive the $30 savings. I told her "i will forget to cancel" and she assured me again I could cancel again in 30 days. I guess she didn't understand the "I will forget" part. After I said "no thanks," she gave me a confirmation that I would not be charged, and then she left the chat.
It seems other hotel chains are using this same marketing "technique":
